Nestled in the heart of the Durbanville Wine Valley—just minutes from Cape Town yet worlds away from its pace—D’Aria is a place shaped by rolling hills, cooling Atlantic breezes, and sun-warmed slopes that give life to expressive, elegant wines. Inspired by the musical term aria, meaning a passionate solo performance, D’Aria embodies emotion, craftsmanship and storytelling in every bottle.

A Legacy Rooted in the Land
The story of D’Aria begins long before the first bottle was ever crafted. It is a story shaped by two neighbouring farms—Doordekraal and Springfield—whose combined history stretches back more than 300 years.
In 1698, Doordekraal was granted to the resilient Dutch widow Tryntje Verwey, known as “De Boerin” for her remarkable skill and success in farming. Her daughter Alida inherited the same determination, continuing the legacy on the nearby Springfield farm, even after being widowed at a young age.
Together, these women laid the foundation for generations of agricultural excellence and established a heritage of strong female leadership that still echoes across the farm today.
Two Farms Become One Story
Centuries later, the two historic farms were acquired by Barinor Holdings, and in 1999 they were united under one name: D’Aria Vineyards.
This marked the beginning of a new chapter—one that honours the past while embracing innovation. Today, D’Aria stands as a living tribute to the Verwey women’s spirit of hard work, passion and perseverance, preserving their legacy while crafting wines that speak to the future.
